Peter Brotherhood Ltd.

Peter Brotherhood Ltd. of Peterborough were already an establised engineering firm by the time they decided to venture into tractor production. The first Peterbro tractor was built in 1920, and was a high-quality but expensive machine featuring an advanced four-cylinder Ricardo petrol/paraffin engine generating around 30 hp. Unfortunately the cost of the tractor proved prohibitive, especially compared to the Fordson and other tractors, and sales in the UK were disappointing. The Peterbro proved more popular in Australia and New Zealand, however, and quite a few were exported to those countries, although production eventually came to an end in the 1930s.
